CDA Policy

 

The funding available through the Community Development Account are separated into three seperate and distinct categories.These categories for funding which Kahkewistahaw Band Members can apply for are: 


1. Individual Member Category

  • Any member of Kahkewistahaw First Nation over the age of 18yrs or under the age of 18 years, can apply. If the application is completed by a parent or legal guardian of the individual member, may apply to the Trustees for funding of a Community Development project or Activity.
  • The Maximum amount monies that can be applied for is $2,000 Dollars.
  • The Trustees Recommended 25% of the monies available for disbursement.
  • Once the funding is received by the applicant, the applicant is ineligible to apply for 2 years.
  • Applications will be reviewed and considered by the Trustees on an on-going basis.

2. Business Category

  • All applications for the funding in this category may be completed by the following: by the First Nation or any individual Member in relation to a sole proprietorship business to which they own or any incorporated business entity, joint venture or limited partnership for which minimum of 51% or more shares or ownership interest is held by the First Nation or individual member.
  • The Maximum of amount of monies that can be applied for is $35,000 Dollars.
  • The Trustees recommended 35% of the monies available for disbursement.
  • Once the funding is received by the applicant, the applicant is ineligible to apply for 5 years.
  • Applications will be reviewed and considered by the Trustees four (4) times per year:
    • February 28th
    • May 31st
    • August 31st
    • November 30th

3. Community Category

  • Applications in this category maybe submitted by the council on behalf of the First Nation or any unincorporated association or charitable group, operating on or off the first nation.
  • The Maximum amount of monies that a charitable group or noncharitable group operating on or off first nation can apply for $50,000 Dollars.
  • The Maximum of $300,000 Dollars – is the amount of monies that can be applied for- In the context that the application is received and applied by the First Nation.
  • The Trustees recommended 40% of the monies available for disbursement.
  • Applications will be reviewed and considered by the Trustees on an on-going basis.
