POSITION: CULTURE & LANDBASED FACILITATOR
WAGE RANGE: BASED ON QUALIFICATIONS
CLASSIFICATION: CONTRACT
SUMMARY:
The Culture and Land-Based Facilitator plays a vital role in integrating Indigenous cultural teachings and land-based learning into the curriculum & instruction of our school. This position focuses on fostering a deep connection between students, their culture, and the land, while promoting academic achievement and personal growth.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Indigenous Studies, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred OR relevant and related experience working within a First Nation school and land-based context.
- Certification or training in land-based education and cultural teachings is an asset.
- Experience working in K-12 educational settings, preferably in Indigenous or First Nation contexts.
- Strong understanding of Indigenous culture, traditions, and community dynamics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and inspire students of diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in integrating outdoor learning and cultural practices into educational programs.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for field-based activities.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- The position may involve outdoor activities in various weather conditions.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required for community events and activities.
