Position Summary:
The 1907 Specific Claim Trust Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the Kahkewistahaw 1907 Specific Claim Trust, ensuring compliance with the Trust Agreement. This role involves overseeing high-level administrative tasks, managing financial operations, staff, Trust property, and supporting policy development. The Trust Operations Manager will collaborate closely with the Trustees, Chief and Council, CDA Administrator, and work in partnership with core internal KFN departments including Lands & Resources, Housing, Finance, and Human Resources. Core responsibilities include supervising Trust staff, coordinating professional development, maintaining accurate records, liaising with Trust professionals, and managing Trust property, including land acquisitions and investments, in a businesslike and compliant manner. The Trust Operations Manager reports to the Trustees, ensuring that the 1907 Specific Claim Trust’s objectives and goals are met, and that the Trust operates effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a minimum of four years of relevant administrative experience in a supervisory role.
- Financial education with knowledge of accounting practices, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and land management practices is an asset.
- Experience with First Nations Governance and Administration.
- Knowledge of Treaty Land Entitlement and Specific Claims.
- Knowledge of Land Codes.
- Experience in policy development, financial planning, staff supervision, and managing Trust assets.
- Must possess skills to represent the Trust effectively in public and in private settings in a positive and confident manner.
- Knowledge of Trust Agreements and legal compliance requirements is essential.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer literacy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in sensitive matters.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Must be willing to take relevant training.
