POSITION: LAND & RESOURCES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANS

WAGE RANGE: BASED ON QUALIFICATIONS
CLASSIFICATION: TERM SIX (6) MONTHS, FULL-TIME TWO (2) POSITIONS
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Kahkewistahaw First Nation and the supervision of the Lands & Regulatory Manager the Lands and Regulatory Maintenance Technician will perform an array of duties. The primary role of the Lands and Regulatory Maintenance Technician is to provide mid-level support to the Lands and Regulatory Sr. Lands Officer and department. The position will ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the Lands and Regulatory department and issues relating to lands management of Kahkewistahaw First Nation. Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum two (2) years’ work experience in Land & Resources or related fields.
- Experience in event coordination and project management.
- Adaptability to situations and changing work environment.
- Knowledge of community and Aboriginal land issues.
- Contract negotiation and development experience.
- Must be able to operate standard pick-up trucks, perform safety checks, operate side by side and operate mechanical equipment safely (i.e., post pounder, winch, garden tractor/lawn mowers, etc.)
- Read and interpret maps or willing to obtain training.
- Must have or be willing to take First Aid Training, WHIMIS, Ground Disturbance, including Fire Awareness.
- Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deal with office staff, managers, external land users and band membership.
- Possess the ability to maintain the management of confidential information and must be prepared to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle.
