Good Afternoon KFN Members,
I hope you are all doing well. Yesterday, KFN Chief & Council received Canada’s signed agreement on our Agriculture Benefits Claim through our legal firm, Maurice Law.
Today, I’m sharing details about the upcoming information sessions and voting process. Starting today, there is a 30-day notice period before voting begins. During this time, we will hold information sessions. On the 31st day, voting will close, and ballots will be counted.
Information Sessions:
KFN Council, along with our legal team, will host three information sessions on the following dates and locations:
Monday, February 10 – Kahkewistahaw First Nation Complex, 5 PM to 9 PM
Tuesday, February 11 – Regina, SK, Delta Hotel, 5 PM to 9 PM
Wednesday, February 12 – Calgary, AB, Best Western Premier Plaza, 5 PM to 9 PM
These locations were chosen based on attendance data from our Christmas dinners, as they were the top three most attended locations. The Regina session will also be streamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person.
Voting Process & Deadline:
Electronic voting will open after the second information session.
In-person voting will take place on Saturday, March 1, at Kahkewistahaw First Nation.
Both online and in-person voting will close at 6 PM on March 1.
We will continue to share updates over the next month to ensure all your questions are answered.
Thank you, and have a great day.
On behalf of KFN Council,
Chief Evan Taypotat
