POSITION: PRE SCHOOL EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR
DEPARTMENT: ALICE FRANCIS DAYCARE
WAGE RANGE: BASED ON QUALIFICATIONS
CLASSIFICATION: PERMANENT FULL TIME
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Pre School Early Childhood educator is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate daycare program for Pre School age children of the Alice Francis Daycare in accordance with Alice Francis Daycare Policies and Procedures. The Pre School Early Childhood Educator will be responsible for planning and implementing daily educational activities for the children. The Pre School Early Childhood Educator will be respectful of the children, parents, staff, and community members and ensure equipment and work/play areas are clean, safe and well maintained.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Plan and implement daily activities that meet physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children
2.
Ensure equipment and the facilities are safe, clean, and well maintained at all times.
3.
Help develop and culturally implement age-appropriate programs that engage the child to become a lifelong learners
4.
Provide a safe and secure environment for the children to feel safe and comfortable.
5.
Record and keep record of individual children, including incidents, daily observations, information on activities, food intake, toileting logs and diaper changes.
6.
Display strong organization and written skills: provide a weekly list of activities, maintain a daily logs.
7.
Provide programming that includes songs, dance, games, and storytelling.
8.
Communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that children will understand.
9.
Be responsible for creating a warm and inviting environment to accommodate children’s interest and spark their curiosity and help build their self esteem.
10.
Multitasking; being able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
11.
Ensure children are being supervised at all times according to the staff and child ratios.
12.
Must be able to work in a team setting and be a team player.
13.
Assist in preparing meals and snacks using the Canada Food Guild for children and regulate rest periods.
14.
Must be flexible and adaptable to work with other children in the daycare and head start.
15.
Must be able to effectively communicate with parents in a variety of ways.
16.
Maintain the Confidentially of the Daycare, Head Start and Nursery Programs and its client and families.
17.
Must report any suspected abuse immediately to the Early Years Coordinator
18.
Other duties may be assigned by the Education Committee, Early Years Coordinator or as stated in the Daycare Policy.
REQUIRED SKILLS. QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
1.
Possess a grade 12 and Early Childhood Education Diploma.
2.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening and writing skills.
3.
Updated First Aid and CPR certificates
4.
Highly motivated and ability to work in a demanding and fast paced work environment.
5.
Be punctual, dependable and be willing to take direction.
6.
Be able to work with other employees and work with minimal supervision.
7.
Have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
8.
Must provide three (3) current written references along with updated resume.
9.
Submit a current up-to-date criminal record check (CPIC) and drug screen within thirty-days commencing employment.
